LIVED EXPERIENCES OF COMMUNITY NURSES ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF PREVENTION PROGRAM AGAINST RABIES ENCEPHALITIS AMONG THE SELECTED BARANGAYS OF TAGUM CITY

Abstract


This qualitative study particularly phenomenological design with thematic analysis explored and understand the lived experiences of community health nurses on the implementation of prevention programs against Rabies Encephalitis among the selected barangays of Tagum City. The deployed community nurses on the selected barangays of Tagum City as participants were purposively chosen based on certain criteria and qualification, then interviewed through in-depth interview and focus group study using a validated interview guide. For the qualitative data analysis, thematic analysis was employed to generate themes and sub-themes from the responses of the participants. The themes extracted from the lived experiences of the community nurses included funding, culture, and communication. As for challenges and barriers they encountered, the following themes generated were cultural barriers, logistical issues, behavioral challenges, and staffing constraints. And regarding the strategies used to overcome the obstacles, the following themes extracted included education campaigns, community engagement, technology use, and threat perception. All the data gathered from the participants were summarized, then thoroughly analyzed, and was given implication and recommendations that is useful to the readers, policy makers, and to the future researchers.
